It is our second anniversary!
Corey and I eloped with our family's knowledge and blessing on November 8th, 2014. We were married by my big brother in an art gallery at Bethel University (my alma mater!) Our family members that were able to make it were there, but being as some very important family members were missing due to distance, fear of flying, etc, we kept it as family only. Corey had the flu and was so sick he was puking while walking in to the venue. We didn't take a honeymoon, he was sick all weekend and went to work on Monday. (less than ideal, but when you love each other it works just fine!) It snowed a TON that Monday morning, and Corey had to drive to his first day of his new job in multiple inches of snow. He had summer tires on his car, and had never driven in snow before. I thought that certainly I was about to lose my groom before we even had two days married together...and here we are, two years later.
Our friends thought we were crazy, and I don't blame them. It is all a little crazy, to go from being entirely content, complete, and single and then married eight months later. It may have been a whirlwind, and we definitely do not have everything figured out, but we made it. We are growing together. For example- I just asked Corey to pull up photos from our elopement on our external harddrive. They were nowhere to be found. He must have deleted them on accident! I'm not happy, but last year I would have yelled. Tonight I didn't! I'm going to call that major success. (We hope we can get them back one of two other possible ways, but until then, I'll put photos from our family wedding in this post!) We are happy, healthy, very much in love, and very thankful we both took that leap!
Here's a few photos from our traditional ceremony and reception where we celebrated with family and friends. It was held in Florida five months after we eloped. It was everything I could have hoped for, and more.
